Did You Know?

The American Legion celebrated 99 years of service to our Veterans, their families and our community on March 15th this year! The countdown begins for the 100th anniversary celebration.

Have you ever wondered about how this all began ? After World War I a valiant group of Servicemen from the American Expeditionary Forces decided there was not enough being done to assist the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen returning from the war. It didn’t take long for Post’s to start springing up all over the United States.

Today, membership stands at over 2 million in more than 13,000 posts worldwide. The posts are organized into 55 departments: one each for the 50 states, along with the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico and the Philippines.

All of this started with the desire of a few good men to help their fellow Veterans and we continue that mission today. With your help, our American Legion Post can provide assistance to Veterans who need help filing VA claims, homeless veterans who need a night or two out of the rain, families who need help paying their electric bill to keep heat in their homes during the winter, food for our needy neighbors, and the list goes on and on.

Thank You for your continued service because none of this would be possible without your help and support!

Commander’s Notes

Our Post 233 is committed to serving our entire community. We welcome all eligible veterans to join one of the most active American Legion Posts in the nation. It is our goal to support our veterans and our community. We strongly encourage family members to become active in our American Legion Auxiliary Unit 233 and our Sons of the American Legion. We need your membership and support if the American Legion is to continue to fight for the benefits to which all veterans and their families are entitled.
